PRACE Summer School: Taking the most out of supercomputers
PRACE, the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe organizes a summer school on 29 August – 1 September 2011 in Espoo, Finland. The school will be hosted by CSC – IT Center for Science Ltd. and co-organized together by CSC and SNIC/PDC - Center for High Performance Computing at KTH. (+)
A COMISIÓN EUROPEA PREMIA O LABOR DO CESGA E A USC NO PROXECTO e-HOSPITAL
O proxecto e-Hospital foi seleccionado pola Comisión Europea como un dos tres proxectos Grundtvig máis destacados en toda Europa, en recoñecemento pola súa contribución á innovación e creatividade na proposta. O Centro de Supercomputación de Galicia (CESGA) e o Grupo de Investigación en Tecnoloxía Educativa da Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC), coa colaboración do Complexo Hospitalario Universitario da Coruña, participaron neste proxecto en España, sendo o seu principal obxectivo crear e avaliar a viabilidade da formación continua mediante e-learning a pacientes adultos hospitalizados de longa duración. ONE BILLION UNKNOWNS SOLVED WITH THE FINISTERRAE
Last August 15th the HEMCUVE team, formed by scientists of the universities of Extremadura and Vigo, with the collaboration of the technical personnel of the Galicia Supercomputing Centre, CESGA, have analyzed with the supercomputer FinisTerrae, the major electromagnetic problem of the history, containing more than ONE BILLION unknowns. The attainment of this new mark overcomes one of the big scientific challenges of the computational electromagnetism of the 21st century. (+)
